For those still using ditzie...
I don't even remember when the tool first went online, but I think it was sometime in 2006. That was before the iPhone came out, back when people were still using the phrase "web 2.0". It was a few years later that ditzie got a dedicated domain (registered April 8, 2009) and it started being used mostly as a tool for PbP battle maps.
Alas, if you're still using it, I regret to say that ditzie will go offline for good on Dec 1, 2021.
Some (maybe) interesting facts...
* ditzie has been used to generate 148,404 saved pages (to date). 99% of those are PbP battle maps.
* It still gets semi-regular use.
* I have completely lost track of the number of times I planned to rewrite it from scratch and never did.
* It has never collected any user data other than basic registration information for the gallery. The main app is totally anonymous.
* It was written in, and still runs on PHP5 which went end-of-life in Dec, 2018.
* It has run in a series of Docker containers on a dedicated virtual machine since May, 2018.
* The source code (which started off in svn, then moved to git) is currently tagged v3.2.
* The last update done was to get it to work in its current environment. I don't recall the last changes made prior to that.
* The Gallery2 software embedded in ditzie hasn't been updated since 2012. The current (and latest) version of Gallery3 was released in 2013.
Anyway, if you were ever a user, then thank you for visiting.
